So after all these years of talking about Beyond Good & Evil 2 being on next-gen consoles (Xbox One aka "The One" and the PlayStation®4), its developer, Ubisoft Montpellier, had something interesting to say about Beyond Good & Evil 2 on current gen consoles. In an interview with Michel Ancel, the creative mind behind franchises such as Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil, he said the following

"I think, on current gen consoles, Beyond Good & Evil 2 was possible, but it’d be painful. It’s always possible to do anything on any kind of console, but sometimes you need to spend your energy not doing optimization or things like that. Now that we have the new consoles around the corner we’re working on them. We’re trying to see how we can get the power out of those consoles because there are still things we need to understand on those consoles, but yes, Beyond Good & Evil is a project I always have in mind and I hope good things will come for this project very soon."

What do you think? Would you be happy if Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be ported over to current-gen consoles at last? it certainly creates a broader audience, as I don't think many people would consider Beyond Good & Evil 2 a system-seller. Porting it over to current gen consoles also reaches a, by far, broader audience.

Due to the lack of commercial praise and attention, Beyond Good & Evil never got its rightful place it so truly deserves. Why would Ubisoft not consider porting it? If you ask me, at this time, the xbox 360 and playstation 3 is the best generation you could develop a game for. What also can be deprived from his statement, citing Michel Ancel, "Now that we have the new consoles around the corner we’re working on them", probably takes the probability of Beyond Good & Evil 2 being developed for the Wii U, completely out of the picture. Another thing that would not be wise, as there is a lot of potential features that the Wii U could do.

Again, I have my doubts if developing it for next-gen consoles would get Beyond Good & Evil its rightful place... as it won't be a launch title either, I do not see things so bright...

Keep fightning the good fight,
