The Science Center is an organization that, while never seen, plays a large part in Jade's journey through Beyond Good & Evil. With years of the DomZ invasion taking its toll on the ecosystem of Hillys, the Science Center puts out a call for photographers to record a full inventory of all the species inhabiting the planet.
Jade first comes in contact with the Science Center near the beginning of the game, when Secundo suggests them as a possible source of income, as the Lighthouse shields had been cut off due to low Optima credit.
Mission[]
The Science Center album
Secundo puts Jade in email contact with Director of the Science Center following the DomZ raid at the Lighthouse. Throughout the game, Jade can photograph any and all species she encounters, both animal and humanoid, to send to the SC. The Center pays for Jade's photos with Units, a zoom function for her Camera, and Pearls.
When you complete the seventh, and final, roll of film, you are rewarded with an Mdisk containing an album of all the pictures.
A complete list of all species that can be documented can be found here.
Trivia[]
- A promotional bulletin on HillyanNews.com originally advertised the wildlife documentation project as for the Natural Museum of Hillys[1]. The Museum is not mentioned by name in the final game, leaving it unclear whether the Science Center is its department or a new organisation.
- However, the hovercams at the Races do cycle an advert - "On exhibition at the Museum: the Paleo-Moderns".
- In an earlier development phase of Beyond Good & Evil, the wildlife photography quest was intended to be for a mysterious man known as The Collector, who owned an art gallery in Hillys City.
